אוֹת
ʼôwth · oth · noun · “sign, miracle”
Oth means sign — a marker God gives to teach, to remember, to warn. The rainbow, circumcision, the bronze serpent, and Jesus’ miracles are signs of God’s purposes.
Oth is a sign or token — something visible that points to something more. The Bible is full of them: the rainbow (covenant), circumcision (Abrahamic family), the Passover blood (deliverance), the bronze serpent (foreshadowing Christ).
A sign is meant to lead the eye beyond itself to God’s saving work. John’s Gospel uses the same idea for Jesus’ miracles — sēmeia (signs) pointing past the wonder to the Son.
Definition: a signal (literally or figuratively), as aflag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc.
KJV usage: mark, miracle, (en-) sign, token.
