Righteousness
Being right with God—both his perfect justice and the right standing he gives believers through Christ.
Righteousness describes God’s flawless justice and goodness. No one measures up to it on their own, since ‘all have sinned.’
The gospel’s wonder is that God credits his righteousness to those who believe, so we stand right before him through Christ, not our works.
